Target:
- Macau Permanent residents aged 30 or under;
- Students enrolled in a diploma, bachelor or master's programme in visual arts conducted by education institutions in Macau or overseas.
Requirements:
Students must be permanent residents of Macau on the day of application and are pursuing a diploma, bachelor or master's programme in visual arts or are enrolled in a programme above.
Programmes in Visual Arts:
Painting/drawing, photography, sculpture, video art, multimedia, installation, art history, art criticism, performance art, art-admin. Cultural Industry development and management..
Documents to be submitted:
- Completed application form (see Appendix);
- Photocopy of Macau Permanent Resident Identity Card (front and reverse sides of the ID should be copied on same side of A4-sized paper);
- Curriculum vitae;
- Certificate of high school or higher education qualification and academic transcripts of high school or tertiary programmes;
- Course outline issued by institution concerned, including proof of tuition fee;
- Proof of application and enrolment notification or proof of registration issued by institutions concerned;
- Proof of proficiency or personal declaration claiming mastery in teaching language;
- Recommendation letter from two professionals in academic or professional sectors.
Number of Dispensing Installments Each Year: Scholarship will be paid in two installments in each academic year.
Payment Arrangement: Scholarship will be credited to the applicant’s bank account in Macau.
Number and Amount of Scholarships:
The number and amount of the scholarships are decided by the AFA Assessment Committee for AFA Art Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) and have no limits. The Committee reserves the right to grant the tuition in whole or in part or deny the applicant a scholarship. The Committee is formed by five members, including the Director of AFA, local prominent figures and artists. The members of the Committee are volunteers and do out receive any remuneration. In the event that the direct relative of a Committee Member applies for scholarship, the member involved shall avoid participating in the assessment and his/her vote or opinion shall be substituted for that of another Committee Member.
Responsibilities of Applicant:
- The applicant should present to the AFA Assessment Committee for AFA Art Scholarship a photocopy of the transcript of each semester;
- The applicant should open a bank account in Macau;
- The applicant may not change the bank account that receives the scholarship without prior approval of the Committee;
- The applicant must not accept other scholarships, grants and subsidies without prior approval of the Committee;
- The applicant should present three copies of his/her thesis/dissertation and one copy of his/her graduation certificate to the Committee within 12 months of completing the bachelor or master's degree programme. For diploma programmes, the applicant need to present only a copy of his/her graduation certificate plus information of graduation works (photos and introduction in writing).
Termination of Scholarship:
- The applicant drops out of school or is ordered to drop out of school during term;
- A scholarship will not be granted in an academic year if the applicant fails a make-up examination that results in the extension of graduation;
- The applicant accepts other scholarships, grants or subsidies without prior approval of the Committee;
- The applicant presents a false declaration or omits important facts on submission of application documents.
